The most common type of soybeans we handle are Non-GMO, IP, black
hilem soybeans which are used for tofu and fried tofu production. The most
common variety is the Pioneer 93B82. This type of soybean is used in high
volumes by the tofu industry in Japan. They are characterized by high
protein, high NSI and consistent performance in food production.
Another common type of soybean that we produce are mid seed sized
Non-GMO, IP, white hilem soybeans. These are used for miso, soy milk
and some tofu production. These include S20F8, Pioneer 92M10
varieties.
We also produce Vinton type soybeans - such as the IA3006. These
are large-seeded, high protein, white hilem soybeans developed by
the Iowa State University.
The Seed Company develops soybeans for customers that have specific requirements. We
are working to develop high sugar content soybeans and other soybeans that have pleasant
taste profiles. We are constantly working to develop soybean varieties which have improved
characteristics for tofu production.
